About Us
Opened in 1990, Desecheo Surf Shop was then Captain Bill’s Dive Shop—the first dive shop in Rincón! Over the years, our family’s focus shifted more towards the surf industry and it became Desecheo Surf Shop. Jenny moved to Rincón back in the ’70s and broke into the industry by designing swimwear. Captain Bill and Jenny opened the dive shop the same week their daughter, Mishell, was born; her birth announcement was a loudspeaker truck driving through town that doubled as advertising the shop opening.
Over the years, they grew the business into what it is today: a one-stop shop for all your Rincón needs. They eventually expanded to also operating a small guesthouse nestled in the hills that overlook the lighthouse—Desecheo Inn. Son Billy eventually moved back to the island, bringing along his wife Annie, and now the next generation has continued the tradition—the entire family plays a part in making sure the surf shop is all aloha vibes. Billy and Annie’s kids, Noah and Mia, might even be the ones answering all your questions.
We are happy to be part of what makes Rincón a surf town. Drop in, say hi, grab some surf boards, do some shopping, all while looking out at one of Rincón’s famous surf breaks, Tres Palmas; we are blessed to be located right on the most beautiful stretch of 413: the Road to Happiness.
Happy surfing!
